Greek souvlaki flatbread wraps with tender chicken, juicy pork and grilled halloumi
The Athenian — Unit 54
Tell us about who you are and what you do.
We are Tim and Neo and we have a Greek street food business called The Athenian. We make Souvlaki – a delicious flatbread wrap from Athens. A creation from ancient times, Souvlaki is now Greece’s most popular street food. Starting with a characteristic round and soft flatbread, it is then filled with a choice of tender chicken, juicy pork or handmade grilled halloumi cheese (vegetarian option), topped with freshly cut salad medley of lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, parsley and a choice of our delicious homemade sauces, be it spicy feta cheese, tzatziki or our signature yoghurt, mustard, honey and secret herbs sauce. We source our products from small independent Greek and local producers, keeping our footprint low while supporting the local economy without ever compromising on that unique Mediterranean experience we aim to bring to our customers. Our mission is to bring a small piece of Athens to London, and create an updated and modern image about Greek food. We look forward to serving our food at BOXPARK Shoreditch!
Which song sums up your brand?
“You Learn” by Alanis Morissette. Other than being a favourite and a classic, it’s a song about learning and evolving and our brand has done both since we started flying with our little owl in this universe of Greek food!
What can we expect from your stay at Boxpark?
Souvlaki, salads, Greek produce of exceptional quality and exciting new additions to our menu!
What item on your menu do you recommend?
That’s an easy one. Bifteki souvlaki, with our signature sauce and all the trimmings. We eat it almost every day and we can’t get enough of it!
What is your favourite current BOXPARK brand and why?
Cook Daily. We eat it regularly and love their infamous green curry. They also happen to be our next door neighbour which is amazing!
What’s your top Shoreditch Tip?
Shoreditch is a buzzing hub full of trendy bars, streetfood markets and little hidden gems. We’d definitely recommend the Italian café Franze and Evans, and a stroll down Redchurch street. Our new favourite place to hang out is the chilled out Sonos studios on club row. It’s a really beautiful space and they do exhibitions on the ground floor occasionally.
What does the future hold for The Athenian?
The future is really exciting for The Athenian. We have some big plans on the pipeline but we can’t share them just yet! All we can say is that we’re planning to stay true to our mission, which is to bring a small piece of Athens to London.
