Back soon - Update from BOXPARK's CEO & Founder
— 27 Nov 2020, 09:02 by Roger Wade
Four weeks ago, we had no choice but to temporarily close all three of our venues in Shoreditch, Croydon and Wembley (AGAIN). Despite the second national lockdown being shorter than the first time, the cost to the UK’s hospitality sector is far greater and we have all been pushed to our limits with many businesses clinging on by their fingertips.
We are concerned about the survival of the hospitality industry throughout the winter and the impact it could have on people. Hospitality venues like BOXPARK serve as the heart of local communities and are places people depend on for their social lives. This is why we are backing UK Hospitality’s #Fair4Hospitality campaign to call on the Government to request further aid such as the job support scheme, lockdown grants, rent and business rates holiday.
Although the second lockdown has hit us hard, we have used this time to think about ways we can come out the other side stronger. We are a business that strives to keep evolving and innovating despite the environment around us. So it’s not all doom and gloom - there is a light at the end of the tunnel and plenty of new opportunities as we head into 2021. We are keeping this in mind as we prepare for our reopening on Wednesday 2 December.
Yesterday, the Government confirmed that London will fall under Tier 2 which is exactly where we were before the second lockdown. However, we will need to make a few small changes and have been exploring the safest way to reopen our venues to ensure the health and wellbeing of everyone, whilst adhering to the new restrictions. Ahead of our reopening, we will share an update with you on what changes we’re making.
On 2 December, all of our venues will be open to the public and we’ll be offering both delivery and click & collect. As we operate in both the hospitality and retail sectors, we have been working closely with tenants and delivery partners to prepare for the reopening.
Undoubtedly, it has been a rough month for everyone but our team are staying positive and we are incredibly grateful to our customers and partners who have continued to support us. This temporary pause will be coming to an end soon and we’ll be ready again to bring communities together to Eat.Drink.Play.
Stay safe, back soon!
