As a local Croydon boy, STORMZY has frequently visited BOXPARK Croydon both to play and also to enjoy himself with his entourage. He played a secret gig to celebrate the launch of his new album back in February 2017 and returned for another surprise show in January 2020. He told fans the show was free but the location was shrouded in secrecy till the big reveal at 4pm on Sunday. The post was followed by an update which revealed the secret pop-up location to be BOXPARK Croydon. With the doors opening just half an hour later, fans from across London rushed to attend! His most recent appearance at Euro 2020 caused a frenzy as he turned up with his mates to sit and watch England play. He went viral on social media when his wild goal celebrations were caught on camera!
10 Years of BOXPARK – 10 famous faces
— 9 Dec 2021, 12:00 by Izzy Grant
Over the last 10 years, we have become notorious for surprise celebrity appearances. You might even say BOXPARK ranks pretty high on the list of London’s top food/entertainment venues for ‘star spotting’.
From reality TV stars such as Love Island and TOWIE, to rappers such as Stormzy, Aitch and Wretch 32, and footballers to YouTubers, we’ve got an impressive record of famous faces being spotted at our venues, and have grown a little black book of celebrity contacts who are part of the BOXPARK family.
After Euro 2020, The Athletic said “BOXPARK was not only a hugely popular place to watch England games...it also became a place to be seen. Celebrities began turning up, ranging widely on the A to Z-list spectrum from Rio Ferdinand, Stormzy, to Neil Ruddock, and of course Barry From EastEnders.”
Throughout the last 10 years, we have hosted secret gigs, surprise appearances, pop-up celebrity stores and event lineups of the most famous and relevant people of the moment.
Here we take a look at the 10 most famous faces who have stepped through the doors of BOXPARK:
Skepta was a regular at BOXPARK Shoreditch when fan favourite Cook Daily was open as he used to love the famous vegan Pad Thai! Skepta also performed at BOXPARK Wembley for JME's Grime MC album launch in 2019.
JME has performed multiple times at BOXPARK Croydon and Wembley, including at Eskimo Dance for BOXPARK Croydon’s Launch Festival and returned again this year for Croydon’s 5th Birthday Eskimo Dance Halloween special. JME also hosted ‘Grime MC FM’ pop ups across London, bringing grime back to a pirate radio setting which can be accessible to anyone. He took these to BOXPARK Croydon and Wembley on back to back weekends, talking to fans and selling T-shirts while also playing music off the album. He also was a big fan of the vegan food offering at BOXPARK, frequently turning up to get Cook Daily or What The Pitta!
