#WOMXNWHOPLAY TALKS: Mental Health / Body Awareness Within The Sports Industry
Location: Boxpark Croydon
7:00pm — 10:00pm
As part of our #WOMXNWHOPLAY campaign we are hosting a series of panel talks with our very own ‘first 11 women’s team’ of sports ambassadors. We are putting women from all different sporting backgrounds front and centre, highlighting their journey and achievements whilst inspiring the younger generation to get active. The panel will be hosted by Sian Anderson and Anita Abayomi and powered by Girls Talk About.
The aim is to encourage female participation in sports and our programme will educate young women on ways they can pursue their passion for sports, whether it be on the pitch or in the studio.
“Twice as many boys (39%) in years 9-11 feel confident when exercising or playing sport compared to just 19% of girls.” (Women In Sport Org)
“Just over a third of girls (34%) in years 9-11 enjoy taking part in sport and exercise, compared to more than half of boys (55%).” (Women In Sport Org)
During this panel talk, our panellists will be discussing how they dealt with their bodies changing during puberty whilst playing sport professionally and their opinions on body scrutiny for female athletes. They will also discuss any mental health struggles they have experienced throughout their careers and how they overcame these.
