Josh Stika holds a prominent track record as a freelance Art Director and Artist. His type-focussed work stems from his passion for the British graffiti scene and his love of free-hand typography and his work can be seen all over East London.
Stika graduated from Central Saint Martins and threw himself into collaborative works with a selection of big brands including Adidas and Vauxhall. One of his recent projects included the 'Phwoar Yeah' exhibition in conjunction with Hoxton Gallery. Last year, Stika teamed up with the Jealous Print Gallery to launch a limited run of his infamous 'It's a London Thing' screen prints. Josh is currently the appointed Creative Director of the Outside Collective, in London.
Now Stika brings his exciting work to Boxpark Croydon for month-long exhibition featuring a series of paintings originally created for the Moniker Art Fair, entitled High Miami.
Here, Josh explores the dynamic angles of typographic shape-making and blows them up to emphasise the important elements of the lettering. To add contrast, each piece is filled in with colours and patterns to ensure that the negative space is filled and draws attention to the wording.
Stika's display runs throughout March at Boxpark Croydon.
