Spotlight: Swedish Hasbeens
— 10 Jul 2017
Shoes are life. I mean, you wouldn't get far without them. Ok, you could try but people would think you're a bit odd and you wouldn't look half as stylish and your soles would probably hurt. That is unless you've bagged yourself some original and fun footwear from Swedish Hasbeens. These guys keep it fresh, stylish and eco friendly with their authentic designs, and every pair is handmade. Yeah, none of that automated, impersonal malarkey. Swedish Hasbeens are the real deal and they're committed to their cause - to deliver quality products inspired by Hasbeens that once ruled the planet.
We had them put their feet up for a quick chat about what makes Swedish Hasbeens so unique and which summer style you should be rocking this season...
For those who don't know Swedish Hasbeens, tell us who you are and what you do.
We are a Swedish brand producing high-end fashion clogs made from Swedish lime tree. Quality means sustainability. If all products were made to last, our burden on nature would be a lot less. Therefore, our shoes will last and you can feel it when you hold them in your hand. You will not be able to find higher quality in the materials in the world today or more dedicated people making them.
Which song best sums up your brand?
Drömstad's 'Leave It' expresses the excitement, style and shimmer of stepping out in our shoes!
Which are your favourite pair of shoes that you currently have in stock?
Gullan in the colour cognac because they can make anybody feel like a million dollars, ready for the day and dressed for success!
What makes Swedish Hasbeens so unique?
We are a small Swedish brand but we're stocked worldwide. We have just one store in London but we've made it our mission to bring the style of Scandinavia to Shoreditch.
Our shoes will always be made by hand. That makes them better than any machine-made shoes. Swedish Hasbeens’ shoes are made by artisans in an old traditional way in small factories that have made shoes for decades. This makes every shoe unique and a work of art.
Which other Boxpark Shoreditch trader would you recommend to customers?
Box Balls! Especially on a Friday night. But you'll need to get down to Boxpark Shoreditch quick because they're only here for the summer and it's SO much fun!
What is your favourite thing about Shoreditch?
There's obviously an impressive range of moustaches around town, but I'd say the bagel shops on Brick Lane, which are down to earth (apart from maybe the extravagant rainbow coloured croissants!) and they're also affordable for everyone. The cinema cafe is also cracking.
You can find your next signature pair of shoes from Swedish Hasbeens online and in-store at Boxpark Shoreditch.
