We caught up with Rraanna to find out more.
Tell us who you are and what you do.
I'm Rraanna, I'm 19 years old and I'm a singer/songwriter from Hackney. I've been singing ever since I came out of the womb but the songwriting only started about three years ago. I Consider myself a storyteller; every song I write tells a real truth.
What inspired 'A Whisper of Infatuation'?
I have had a tough journey for the past two years, mainly with relationships. I tried so hard and gave myself to someone who didn't treat me how I deserved. 'A Whisper Of Infatuation' was stimulated by this and hits topics that happen in all types of relationships. It goes round in a circle, starting with the first time you fall in love, to ending with the next time you fall in love.
What can visitors expect from your EP launch at Boxpark Shoreditch?
Visitors can expect to hear some touching songs with seriously sick beats. The producers on my EP have made some amazing beats, creating a contemporary RnB vibe.
Who did you look up to when you were starting out?
When I started out I was inspired by SIA, her songwriting captured so much of her own pain and turned it into beautiful music. That paired with the breaks in her voice create a raw sound. I am also heavily influenced by Aaliyah; I bring an old school vibe to my music. And also SYD for her similar soft tones.
What was the last song you listened to?
The last song I listened to was Evergreen by YEBBA. Such a beautiful, pure gospel voice that tells beautiful stories. The song is about her mother who passed away.
