Spotlight: Lady Sanity
— 12 Sep 2018 by Lauren Furey
Tonight, Lady Sanity joins the GRL GNG crew for an all-female powerhouse at Boxpark Shoreditch. We sat her to find out more.
Tell us who you are and what you do.
I'm Lady Sanity and I'm a rapper from Birmingham. My genre's vary as I take influence from hip-hop, grime and jazz music.
How did you get involved with GRL GNG?
I've been aware of the event for a while due to social media and it always looks like a great vibe. I'm happy to finally be a part of the line up.
What can we expect from your performance tonight?
Expect high energy, good vibes and multiple flows. I like to switch it up so I can get as many people as possible engaged with my performance. If I can see people are having a good time, I've done my job.
GRL GNG empowers female artists, why is that important to you?
It's important because there are a lot of females that aren't being represented properly in the music scene. Events like these bring awareness and unity amongst all the talented women that are doing great things for UK music.
Who have been some of your personal inspirations?
People like Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, Rapsody, Ms Dynamite have all been big inspirations through my musical journey. They are great representations of strong creative females that have set legacies.
What does the rest of 2018 have in store for you?
I have a few more singles and music videos to release with my MOBO x Help Musicians UK funding. A few shows too, but ultimately gearing up for a big project next year.
What was the last song you listened to?
Kaiit - OG Luv Kush. Amazing song I came across randomly on Spotify
You can catch Lady Sanity with GRL GNG tonight at Boxpark Shoreditch from 7 - 10pm. Be sure to follow her online online on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
