Boxpark Croydon's resident DJs sure know how to start a party and one such weekend warrior is our man, Donch! We caught up with him to find out more about his BoxBar experiences and his personal musical influences.
For those who don't yet know, tell us who you are and what you do.
My name is Donameche or Donch for short and I am a full-time open format DJ.
When did you first realise that you wanted to be a DJ?
At first, I don't think I set out with a sole interest in becoming a DJ. It was mostly just my love for music. I started out producing tracks, making grime, garage and bassline mostly, and then my friend suggested that I start DJing in order to promote my music; I took his advice and I've never looked back.
Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
DJ-wise, it would have to be Jazzy Jeff. Some of my favourite artists include Aaliyah, DMX and Method Man.
You've performed at a variety of events over the years, what have been some of your personal highlights?
My birthday event at Boxpark Croydon was massive highlight. The energy was really good and there were positive vibes, everyone was dancing and having a good time. As well as that, it would be my first appearance at my other current residency, Hot Since 91. We have an event coming up this month actually, Saturday 11 November, get your tickets now!
What can visitors expect from your sets at Boxpark Croydon?
What track should everyone be listening to right now?
Jorja Smith - Fine Line and 21 Savage - Bank Account
