To get you excited for tonight's event, we sat down with singer, songwriter Deanna Chase.
Tell us who you are and what you do.
My name is Deanna Chase and I'm a singer, songwriter and dancer.
How did you get involved with GRL GNG?
I got involved with GRL GNG when they asked me to perform a freestyle for their channel. I immediately agreed because of what they stand for, the energy that GRL GNG brings, and I was completely up for doing a freestyle. That was one thing I hadn't done yet so I took on the challenge and really enjoyed it. That will be out soon!
What can people expect from tonight's performance?
Tonight's performance will be high energy, dancing, and, hopefully, some crowd involvement. I love when the crowd vibe with me, we are all there to have fun. I like to blur the gap between the audience and myself.
My music is a mixture of pop and R&B with the occasionally trap-y vibe brought to it. Chris Brown is my biggest influence, musically, artistically, stylistically. His dance ability and showmanship is also something I rate highly. Overall, I was brought up on all styles of music and I think you can hear that in my melodies and approach to music.
GRL GNG is about empowering female artists. Is this something that feels important to you right now?
Empowering females is something that will always been important to me, especially within the music industry. I've experienced first hand that it is much harder for women in this industry, we have to work twice as hard, and genuine support can sometimes be hard to come by. GRL GNG is so important because it's giving us a platform to be seen.
What does the rest of 2018 have in store for you?
What was the last song you listened to?
The last song I listened to was 'Extra Lesson' by Alkaline
