Shoreditch Exhibition: James Thistlethwaite
— 9 Oct 2019, 17:36 by Andrew Squire
For the month of October, one of our favourite artists, James Thistlethwaite, has taken over our corridor exhibition with his incredible charcoal creations. You can see his works for free alongside the best street food, bars and events in London!
James Thistlethwaite is a British artist living and working in Laguna Beach, California. James' works centralises the role of charcoal and graphite to expand how people understand medium. His works exhibit the progressive possibilities of charcoal, from small gallery works to a large-scale outdoor mural. James' work is highly figurative and returns to the earliest of tools to add an emotional narrative to his realistic renderings.
Before commencing his graduate studies at LCAD, Thistlethwaite worked with world renowned artists such as Kehinde Wiley and street artist Ben Eine, Lucy Sparrow and Kent Twitchell. His freelance illustration and graphic design work can be seen all over the world with clients such as the NY Times and Red Bull.
