Pop Up: Urban Veda
— 8 May 2019 by Andrew Squire
Urban Veda are taking over our pop-up unit from 6th-19th May! We asked them a few questions to give you an idea of what to expect!
Tell us about who you are and what you do?
My name is Mia and my role within Urban Veda is Marketing Executive. We are a natural skincare brand with an Ayurvedic philosophy and I take care of all the marketing activity in spreading the message of this ancient old wellness system originating from India. From overseeing our website and social media, to developing some new NPD, I also plan all of our events, especially our pop-up shops. As you can imagine, I have been really excited about Boxpark.
Which song best sums up your brand?
India Summer by Jai Wolf - our brand very much brings the traditional Eastern way of life to the relatable Western world and this song reflects that too.
What can we expect from your stay at BOXPARK?
We will be bringing the Ayurvedic way of life to Boxpark this May. Full of foliage and spa-like scents, our little shop will be transformed into a holistic haven where the public can enter into a tranquil and relaxing environment juxtaposed right in the centre of the busy Shoreditch area. Come and discover your dosha, join our campaign for 'Clean Skin' and try out some of our vegan and cruelty free skincare products.
Which piece from your current collection is your favourite?
My favourite product at the moment is our Purifying Toner. I think toner's always get forgotten about in a skincare regime but i genuinely love this product. It's so refreshing and completely restores hydration back into my skin each morning and evening. It's perfect for this time of year and as an added bonus it's multi award-winning!
What’s the best reason to come to Shoreditch for a shopping spree?
Well obviously because Urban Veda will have a shop there! But there are loads of cool, niche brands that you don't find on the high street.
What’s your top Shoreditch tip?
Spend the day there and you won't get bored. It's got everything you want from places to work to having a drink to having some food and then hitting up a club in the evening. Also check our Rivington street for some cool street art. We love the authentic Bombay brasserie Dishoom (and we're not just saying that because our philosophy comes from India), but seriously, their black dhal is so delicious.
What does the future hold for your brand?
Lots of new products. All i'm going to say is we have so many exciting ideas and things in the pipeline for new products, not just skincare...
