Mash The Tate Pop-Up @Boxpark
— 26 Jun 2018
Tell us about who you are and what you do?
We are Mash The Tate. We create typographic art using a wide range of soul-affirming slogans and colours. All our artworks are fully house-trained, wall-friendly and safe to invite into your home. Our philosophy is simple: #hangwordsnotpictures - Basically we can’t draw.
Which song best sums up your brand?
“If Walls Had Ears They’d Be A Great Place To Hang Your Art” by 1950s crooner Roger Derarsoff.
What can we expect from your stay at BOXPARK?
We’ll be displaying art that can enrich your life that won’t ruin your living room It’ll be a warm and welcoming gallery vibe.
Which piece from your current collection is your favourite?
It’s a piece called: For Richer Or Poorer But Preferably Richer. It’s partly about love but mainly about curling up together with a life-changing amount of cash.
What’s the best reason to come to Shoreditch for a shopping spree?
Free artwork as part of the landscape. Wherever you go in Shoreditch you’re surrounded by art. You can get drunk on complimentary culture.
What’s your top Shoreditch tip?
The larger the piece of artwork the further away you have to stand to appreciate it. The same applies to a piece of small, but bad art.
What does the future hold for your brand?
We’re off to Margate for the summer. Then we’ll be taking on the entire art world. So lock up your paint palettes. The Revolution is coming and it’s dressed in a fancy font.
You can catch Mash The Tate's pop-up from Thursday 28th June - Sunday 15th July in unit 26 of Boxpark Shoreditch!
