Boxpark's commitment to delivering all of this summer's sporting action continues with the London 2017 games.
The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) was founded in 1912 following the Summer Olympics in Sweden. The view was to bring exceptional athletes together from around the world to have them compete for glory for their country. It all started in 1976 with the very first World Championships held in Malmö, Sweden. Since then, the games have moved all around the world - Rome, Tokyo, Helsinki, Edmonton, Paris and, this year, London.
On 4 August, all eyes will be on London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic park as the world's top athletes go head to head - but how will Great Britain fare? Well, it's a tough one. It was Kenya who dominated at the last World Championships in Beijing, in 2015, and the United States have managed to climb to the top a whopping 10 times. Over 2000 athletes from 205 countries will be competing in this year's games, so it really is all to play for.
The current fastest human in the world, Mr Usain "Lightning" Bolt will be running the men's 100 metres, sooooo we probably don't need to guess who'll be taking home the gold in that event. But, it's good news for Team GB too! The legendary Mo Farrah will be competing in the men's 10,000 and 5,000 metre races; a real feat of endurance and stamina.
If watching adults putting themselves deliberately and literally through their paces doesn't do it for you then, fret not, there's a whole heap of competitive games to enjoy over the next 10 days. There'll be pole vaults, long jumps, discuss throwing, shot put, high jump, javelin throwing and more. You can find the full IAAF timetable here.
The IAAF World Championships kicks off at 7pm on Friday 4 August with the men's 100 meters. Whoever you're rooting for this summer, we invite you to join us for the games at Boxpark Croydon with amazing food, refreshing drinks and, as always, great vibes.
