On Saturday 2nd of November, Boxpark Croydon hosted a Day of the Dead Festival with Coors Light. A Mexican holiday that celebrates friends and family who have died and through prayer and altars ‘ofrendas’ help support their spiritual journey. It is believed that the origins date back hundreds of years to an Aztec festival dedicated to the goddess Mictecacihuatl, known as the Lady of Death, and through centuries evolved into the modern Day of the Dead.
BOXPARK Croydon and Lucha Libre World presented a Day of the Dead Festival to celebrate the spirits of past Lucha Libre legends of Mexico and beyond with two spectacular shows featuring the high-flying masked stars of Lucha Britannia.
During the day, the event offered family activities such as paper wrestling mask making, skulls decorating and face painting. In addition, there was live music by the amazing female mariachi duo ‘Las Guadalupes’ and guest Latin DJs playing popular Latin music.
