We don't half like to spoil you lot; just because the nights are drawing in and the days are getting colder, it doesn't mean we can't still throw together a sweet calendar of events to help keep spirits high. This month, we're hosting some amazing parties and you're all invited. One such event is the Chicken 'n' Beer takeover on 30 November, and we caught up with Jevanni Letford to find out more...

Tell us who you are and what you do.

I'm Jevanni Letford and I'm a  DJ, radio host and event organiser.

How did the idea for Chicken 'n' Beer come about?

When most people think of Chicken 'n' Beer, they probably think of the Ludacris Hip Hop album from 2003, whilst music at our events is reflective of everything about that culture. Chicken 'n' Beer actually started in my mum's house on my 25th birthday. I decided to throw a BBQ/house party in the summer and being the Jamaican man I am, I ensured there was an abundance of jerk chicken, Jamaican Red Stripe beer and a thumpin' sound system. The following year, I moved into a smaller flat but had no space to replicate the scenes from the year before. Some friends and I decided to hire a venue in Shoreditch suitable for bringing that house party vibe to the club. All that was left for the brand was a name. I wanted something distinctive, but reflective of what the party actually focused on: Chicken, Beer and Hip Hop vibes.

What can visitors expect from the Chicken 'n' Beer takeover at Boxpark Croydon, this month?

Quality music, creative DJ mixing and an incredible and electrifying atmosphere. We love to take risks and Boxpark Croydon will be no different. This is what happened when we took over Boxpark Shoreditch.

What have been some of the biggest standout moments for you guys so far?

Boxpark Shoreditch was definitely up there, as was our birthday party in August where we gave out FREE CHICKEN! We've also just confirmed our first event in Amsterdam, playing alongside the likes of Wiley, Big Narstie and Chase & Status; that'll be pretty epic, too!

Who are some of your biggest musical influences?

On a personal level, there are so man - Lauryn Hill, Michael Jackson, Mary J Blige and Musiq Soulchild, for that RnB/Soulful element; then there's Tupac, Biggie Smalls, Jay-Z, Nas and Kanye West for Hip Hop. That's if we are talking about my childhood. Obviously, Kendrick and J Cole need a mention today.

Who should everyone be listening to right now?

Right now, I am digging Chloé Leone's new music and Brazen Flow. I am also liking the stuff I am hearing from IAMDDB right now. The Afro Swing wave is obviously doing bits, too.
