A message from Boxpark’s CEO and Founder

Dear guest,

In light of the growing uncertainty we’re facing around COVID-19 (Coronavirus), I wanted to let you know what steps we are taking at BOXPARK to ensure we are providing a safe environment for everyone. First and foremost, I’d like to reassure you that the wellbeing of all our customers, staff members and traders is our number one priority.

As a commercial landlord, we have a contractual obligation to keep our three sites open to enable our tenants to continue trading. With over 75 traders across our sites including street food, retail and leisure, we also have a responsibility to support these small, independent businesses and their employees who will be significantly affected by the pandemic. 

However, we welcome a complete shutdown of all London bars and restaurants for a short time to protect the public, and we anticipate the Government will announce this in the next few days. In the meantime, it’s crucial that we do everything we can to help our traders throughout this crisis, and therefore we have introduced reduced rent rates and service charge payments, as well as enabling flexibility on opening hours to accommodate their needs.

We are fully aware that the Government has released guidelines on social distancing, self-isolating, and has advised that the public avoid pubs, bars and restaurant, so in response to this, we are focusing on optimising food deliveries for our F&B operators to ensure they can drive online sales with the loss of physical customers. 

We have decided to postpone all large-scale events until further notice. However, our regular events at each site will continue to run as scheduled and any changes or postponement will be communicated via our website and social media channels, so please keep an eye out for any announcements.

In addition, we are taking the following measures to keep safe:

  • All customers and tenants are required to use hand sanitiser at the entrance of each site
  • Increase cleaning and disinfecting touch points (i.e. handles and buttons) every 20 minutes
  • Removing communal items such as condiment bottles to avoid the risk of cross-contamination
  • Traders are being updated with delivery company best practice guidelines including packaging types and drop-&-go delivery
  • Staff and Traders fully briefed in containment and effective hand-washing techniques and routines

If you have any symptoms such as a fever, persistent cough, or have recently returned from an affected area, to ensure the safety of everyone on our sites, we ask that you please wait until you’re feeling better before visiting.

We’re closely following guidance from the World Health Organisation and Public Health England, and will continue to monitor the situation. During this period, we’ll be doing everything we can to maintain a clean and sterile environment, whilst continuing to serve our customers.

In such uncertain times, it reminds us that nothing matters more than your health and protecting your loved ones. Please take care of yourself, be kind and try and help those less fortunate. Thanks for all your support on this.
