Spotlight - Coqfighter
— 17 Nov 2016 by Lauren Furey
Coqfighter's Korean-inspired menu has been making big, big waves in the world of chicken and their arrival at Boxpark Croydon has been much celebrated. Seriously, you guys LOVE Coqfighter! We see your Tweets and Instagram snaps, you cannot get enough. So, it was only right that we got to know the men behind the menu...
Tell us a little about who you are and what you do
Coqfighter are Troy and brothers Deacon and Tristan. We do Korean-style fried chicken that melts minds, alters universes and inspires dreams.
What song best sums up your brand and why?
Them Crooked Vultures 'Mind Eraser, No Chaser' or Sisqo 'The Thong Song'. Tough call really.
What can we expect from you guys at Boxpark Croydon?
Two things really. Life changing chicken and really tasty beer. Plus good music, mood lighting, great service and lots of paper towel. And paint brushes. Okay that's more than two.
What is your favourite item on your menu?
Troy loves the bao, Deacon and Tristan love the burger. Everyone loves the smashed cucumber side and dashi and smoked paprika fries. Pretty much the whole menu actually.
Which other Boxpark Croydon trader would you recommend to customers?
Breakfast Club are our kindred spirits/BFF's so we got to say them. Meatliquor, Feed Me Primal and Mud see our faces regularly.
What is your favourite thing about Croydon?
The friendliness and warmth of the people. That sounds cheesy but it has actually blown us away how caring and interested and up for a chat Croydoners are.
If you were on death row, what would be your last meal and why?
Troy - Mum's lasagne and a metric tonne of shellfish
Deacon - Anything from Smoking Goat in Soho
Tristan - Alphabet spaghetti on toast
