ESKIMO DANCE X BOXPARK CROYDON LAUNCH FESTIVAL
— 7 Oct 2016 by David Byrne
With the dawn of a new site, Boxpark Croydon welcomes seminal grime night, Eskimo Dance to play the first ever live show the venue will hold as part of the opening festival weekend.
We take a look at some of the talent that will bless the mic at our new home...
The Godfther of a cultural movement and founder of the legendary Eskimodance steps into the show a day after his highly anticipated album, aptly named Godfather, drops. It wouldn’t be Eskimo without him.
Plaistow raised and former member of seminal grime collectives NASTY Crew and The Movement, Ghetts has a back catalogue of bangers in his artillery from his years in the scene. The grime veteran has been hailed by Wiley as the best performer at current so expect high tempo and a crazy energy.
OGs representor and south side resident, P Money brings his devastating flow and delivery to every set he graces. Expect a barrage of punch lines and versatility on a range of beats at our new residency.
Making waves both musically and politically, Nov has been saluted as the new face of grime and also developed his own tug set sound. The young blue borough boy is breaking boundaries between music and politics, no doubt his performance will be one that breaks yet more boundaries.
Lewisham High Street’s Golden Boy and part of The Square, Elf Kid has quickly established himself as a solo artist as well as being an integral part of the aforementioned crew. With a couple of releases under his belt there is a lot of buzz around Elf and he'll be sure to light up the stage come the 29th October.
